These towering anthills, over two meters in height, are located in the grasslands near Robertsport, Liberia. Built by millions of ants, they are intricate, natural architectural structures. These anthills are not just homes to the ants, they also serve as microhabitats for various organisms, playing a crucial role in the local ecosystem by promoting biodiversity and nutrient cycling.

Microclimate

These anthills create a stable microclimate, regulating temperature and humidity levels within. The structure's height allows for airflow, maintaining ventilation, while the dense walls provide insulation from the intense heat of the day and the cool nights.
